Sofia Avo Atelier
Sofia approaches hat-making the way one tells stories.
More than an object, each piece is born from a memory, a gesture, or a shared moment.
Her journey began early, in childhood, shaped by the image of her grandfather, for whom a hat was essential. Later, in Lisbon, reconnecting with this object revealed another concern: the lack of identity in mass-produced pieces. That’s when she began to carve out her own path.
In felt, she found both material and language. She explored its plasticity, moved away from the standard, and began creating one-of-a-kind pieces — first as artistic expression, then as an extension of the stories of those who seek her out. Today, each hat is built from personal narratives, transformed into form.
She defines herself within a hybrid territory: between craftswoman, artist, and storyteller.
“I’m a blend of all three,” she says, with the ease of someone who doesn’t feel the need to choose just one.
She recognizes that same intention in Lobo Apparel.
The craftsmanship, the time and origin of each piece, the knowledge that there are hands and stories behind every object — these are what she values most.
“That craftsmanship, that story, is what brings Lobo to life.”
